Seniors Greensome Stableford Competition
On Friday 28 seniors turned out to brave the cold and play in a Greensome Stableford Competition. Players are paired in high/low handicap and all players drive off, then select the ball to play alternate shots, scoring using stableford.
- The outright winners were Bill Sandford with Keith Willey scoring 41 points.
- 2nd were Malcolm Thorne with Chris Knight scoring 39 points on countback.
- 3rd were Geoff Woollerson with Derek Green also scoring 39 points.
- The nearest the pin on the 5th was won by Colin Bailey.
A good fun competition to play in - why not try it next year.
Chris and my memorable moments were me chipping in over the right hand bunker on the 16th for a birdie nett eagle. And Chris putting off the left slope on the 17th straight into the hole for a par nett birdie!
Many thanks, Malcolm.

Sarah at Woodbridge Pro Am
It was a very windy day out for me and my team David Reville, Olly Tuck & Spencer Burlingham at Woodbridge Pro Am on Monday. Having not played the course before its definitely one to go to, even after the snow on Sunday the course played in great condition for this time of year including pretty fast greens!
I feel really happy with how I hit the ball after making some small swing changes on Saturday with Rob definitely improved my ball striking for the day, dropping shots with 3 doubles on the day from around the green was the only thing that let me down. I've come away really positive as it's the best I've played for a while and I'm looking forward to the season ahead. Overall we worked really well as a team finishing in 8th position out of 21.

Swing Analysis - Robert Ryder
Robert played to a low single figure handicap when he was younger and now wants to get back into the game and rekindle that form. He displays a strong posture at address and has an athletic swing to match.
During the lesson Robert was suffering with his consistency due to over rotation in the backswing. He turns too much, too early leading to the club falling under the line and behind him halfway into the backswing (shown in picture 1). From there the club moves up and across the line pointing well right of his target. This swing fault can lead to pushes and hook inaccuracies and generally shot inconsistency (picture 2).
During the lesson we worked on one or two drills to help get the club back on the proper plane with a more synchronised turn.
By the end of the lesson he was swinging it much better and now has the club parallel to his feet and aim lines at the top of his swing (shown in picture 3).
If you are struggling with any part of your game please contact a member of the pro shop team.
