Second Year Running as the Mintons and Krinks retain the Morrow Trophy

Saffron Walden Golf Club's Morrow Trophy is the most prestigious combined trophy and attracted a strong field of men and women last weekend playing 4BBB. This trophy commemorates Sir Ian Morrow, an active member of the club until his death aged 93, and great grandson of the "Father of Golf" Old Tom Morris. The club was delighted to welcome Lady Morrow to present the trophy to the winners.

Last year's winners, Lynda and David Minton and their playing partners Roger and Vilma Krinks, were in fine form defending the trophy. The par 5 6th hole yielded 7 points, with David Minton having a birdie and Roger Krinks a par, helping them to a strong 43 points on the front 9 holes.

All players in the field reported the back 9 holes to be less productive but the Mintons and the Krinks continued to play steady golf, never recording less than 4 points a hole, to retain the trophy with 84 points.

In second place were Colin and Stephanie McDonald playing with Andy Fisher and Steve Plumb with 81 points, just ahead of the third placed team of Melissa Jones and Gary Bonner, this years' captains, along with Graham Jones and Claire Richardson (80 points).

Lots of people have asked which swing model they are and how do they know which one will suit them. Here is a straight forward test to see which model will suit your overall flexibility, strength and physical condition.Read more...

Club News
Two common faults I often see with a driver set up when teaching are; weight too left sided , and open shoulder alignment. These are both caused by the alteration with the ball position for the driver. As it's moved left in the stance for a right handed player, the weight tends to go with it, and the shoulders open at the same time.Read more...
