Looking forward to 2018
Over the last few years there has been certain disquiet amongst the players with reference to Sheringham. This was again mentioned in this Tour so it was for this reason that I put forward two proposals to the players on which to vote.
1. To continue with the present format or 2. Drop Sheringham and instead play Cromer twice during the Tour. The majority vote went in favour of the second proposal.
Following on from this I spoke to Cromer direct instead of booking through the hotel as done in the past. As a consequence I have secured two days golf (Tuesday and Wednesday tee-off 11am) for £45 per round, a saving of £10 per round compared to this year!! In addition I have the Hotel and Eaton provisionally booked for next year.
However, there is a problem with Swaffham. There is a large group of women (70) who have also booked the Monday, 18 September and the earliest we can get off is after 1pm or if all 70 plays, nearer 1.30. Swaffham have said we could have the chips and sandwiches before we go out if we wished. This would obviously have a major impact on timings regarding the game and, journey to hotel etc. One option for consideration would be to play Eaton on the Monday and Swaffham on the way home on the Thursday. For this reason I have contacted both Clubs and managed to get a provisional booking for 10.30 tee-off at Eaton on the Monday and 11.00 tee-off at Swaffham on the Thursday.
Personally, I don’t believe it really matters in which order we play these two courses on Tour but I do believe playing them the other way round would on this occasion make a lot more sense. I would appreciate any views on these arrangements in order that I can firm up the bookings.
Again my thanks to you all for your support during the Tour and look forward to hopefully seeing you on Tour in 2018.
Regards Eric
