Hello and welcome to this weeks newsletter.
As I'm sure you are aware, autumn seems to have arrived over night. Last weekend, traditional for a bank holiday, saw the town and course get washed out. To be fair to the course, with the exception of the odd bunker, it has held up quite well.
The final part of the new pro shop team is in place with the arrival of Callum Brookes.
I tried to keep it easy for the majority of members who called Cameron, Callum to get his name right. Callum will be with us at weekends to run competitions and the job will fit in nicely with his studying Sports and Science Btec. Callum has been a member for 4 years coming through the junior ranks and has gone on to captain the team this year as well as playing an important role for the scratch team in defending their title. He has also represented CAGU at various age group levels and has already developed a good swing and game, but also had a good start in his golfing education.
Junior Open
A week last Friday saw the club host the annual junior open. I'm pleased to say that we a had a winner from the club in on the main prizes for the first time in a number of years.
Oli Jones shot two good great rounds of nett 131 (-13) meaning he won by 8 shots. Elliot Copping- Jones of Ely City Golf Club won the best gross with a total of 154.
