PING G30

We have now recieved the hotly anticipated PING G30 range in store. The details behind the new innovations have been a highly guarded secret, and they definitely haven't disappointed!

G30 Driver:

With its simple forgiveness and playability, many of you will have found success using PING G driver models in the past and the G30 moves performance forward once again. Turbulators on the crown improve airflow when swinging to help the club move faster and increase ball speeds. Impressively, PING engineers have offered further adjustability without changing the hosel size - five loft settings should help us to find your perfect setup. Even more options are provided thanks to two different head options. As well as a standard design, an SF Tec head will help those who struggle with a slice. Weighting in the heel should straighten out the ball flight without losing a neutral setup at address.

  • Adjustability allows for up to 1° of loft change up or down.
  • Turbulators on the crown increase swing speed and aid alignment.
  • High balance point shafts allow for heavier heads without changing the swing weight.

G30 Irons

The PING G30 irons utilise many of the performance benefits of the G25 model and make improvements to offer added distance and control. Progressive shaft lengths and stronger lofts have been carefully chosen to ensure there are clear distance gaps through the set. This will solve the problem, which many amateurs have, of mid and long irons going very similar distances. The centre of gravity position has been lowered to help get the ball up in the air with ease. The sole design has also been tweaked to help cut through the turf and offer added consistency.

  • Added distance is on offer thanks to progressive lengths and stronger lofts.
  • An undercut cavity helps to improve the forgiveness on offer.
  • Available with CFS Distance steel and TFC 419i graphite shafts.

The National English Junior Championship

Woodhall Spa was a busy place last weekend, as well as the Captain's trip, the National English Junior Championship was being held on the Bracken course.

I'm delighted to say that saffron Walden were the representatives from Cambridgeshire after winning the regional qualifiers at Menzies. They did the club proud and despite difficult windy conditions on the first day came in with respectable scores, but sadly due to the rain, day two was cancelled.

Having spoke with junior captain Charlie Duke this week, he said it was a great experience to be part of fantastic event with scoreboards, rules officials, spectators and marshals. He would also like to thank those who made the journey up to Woodhall and supported them over the weekend.

Away Weekend at Woodhall Spa

51 members accompanied Captains Barbara and Mark to Woodhall Spa last weekend for what was intended to be a 36 hole competition for men and ladies. Unfortunately the remnants of hurricane Bertha intervened causing the golf on Sunday on the famous Hotchkin course to be abandoned. Nevertheless participants enjoyed a lovely couple of hours in the clubhouse after, drying out whilst taking in liquid refreshment.

Monday saw an 18 hole stableford on the challenging Bracken course with Sue Hollingworth winning the ladies event and Chris Porter victorious in the mens. All in all, despite the weather, a good time was had by all.

Club News
Two common faults I often see with a driver set up when teaching are; weight too left sided , and open shoulder alignment. These are both caused by the alteration with the ball position for the driver. As it's moved left in the stance for a right handed player, the weight tends to go with it, and the shoulders open at the same time.Read more...

Save shots with smarter decision making

An easy thing to say, but in the heat of battle it’s not uncommon to lose focus and make mistakes with yardages. You don’t have a caddie to pace out distances and offer advice. However, GolfBuddy’s WT4 watch can act as that calming influence, giving you accurate yardages at a glance.
