Welcome to this week’s newsletter. As I mentioned in the newsletter last week, we took the juniors away to the Cotswolds and Woburn as part of the Walden Charity scholarship. First stop was at Chipping Norton at the Cotswold Golf club hotel and spa. This side of the trip was organised by John and Josh Izod after they met some of tiger juniors and organiser whilst playing in the Sky Sports Junior Open in Spain last year. They had set up a match with 12 of their juniors taking on 8 of ours plus Sarah, John, Janina Jones and myself. I'm sorry to say that home advantage paid off with only Katie Stevens and Keith Flaxman managing a win. I won't go into the finer details of our defeat but to say that both of the juniors ages combined that we played against were substantially lower than Sarah's. We knocked it round under par between us and managed to lose on the last after being three down at one point. In the bar afterwards the younger of the two Archies was so young he didn't know how to do up his tie! Quite humbling, wish he'd picked on someone his own age. To be fair they have high hopes for him and we could see why. He may have only hit it 170-180 off the tee but he did it every time and had a putting stroke to die for. He had one bad hole where Archie the elder decided he would make an unwelcome appearance on the card with a five nett three meaning we had to eagle it for a half. I'd like to thank them for their fantastic hospitality, both teams hit it off well and we hope to host a return fixture against them back in the summer. As you will see from Sarah's report day two was at Woburn. What can I say, fantastic. I'd like to thank Janina and John for all their hard work whilst we were there and all the driving. Hope they had as good a time as we did and thanks to the juniors for representing themselves and the club in the way they did. They were a credit to us. Thanks also to the Walden Charity for making it possible and to the new junior kit sponsor Oshe shoes for turning them out so smartly.
