Welcome to this week’s newsletter. It's been a busy week for the Pro Shop staff this week, up and down the country and internationally as you will see from Ben and Sarah's reports. |
Yesterday following on from her victory early on in the week Sarah and I went to Bearwood Lakes near Reading for a Tour round Mizuno's base in the UK. We were shown round the facility where the Tour truck is based and given a thorough insight and demonstration on how their new DNA fitting system works.
They've updated it this year to include wedges and woods and is the most efficient fitting tool on the market, and we have one here! Afterwards their new kit was available to try and a guide round the Tour truck. |
|
We decided to take advantage of Bearwood Lakes Golf course itself and went for a game with John Shaw and Ossie. The course layout is superb, unfortunately they suffer from the wet as it’s built on clay and they'd just done some greens treatment, but the course is definitely worth playing, even in 40mph winds! |

He’s Back!
I thought I could hear voices in the shop whilst doing repairs out the back. On first inspection there seemed to be nobody there. However in the far corner of the shop, possibly looking for divine inspiration, using his phone navigation system to find Mecca or ringing Goddards because his dog ate his remote control (one of these is true) was none other than Alan Seymour. |
|
Good to have you back Alan and match fit again. |
Sarah Smith - WPGA Fourball Award Monday this week I played in my First Ladies tournament for 2019 at Copts Heath Golf Club. If you follow me on social media you may have seen I had a great start to the season as me and my partner won!
I played with my golfing/business partner Katie Rule (Taverstock Golf Club) in the WPGA Fourball Award and we scored 6 under.
The course played well, although a very windy day and some tram lined greens (funnily enough the same as last year!) - Luckily this didn’t affect our game much!

Sarah's Special It’s FRIDAY! & I’m guessing most of you are playing over the weekend?! So every Friday I’m going to try and deliver a swing advice tip to have a think about for your weekend game... This week’s swing advice is on LINING UP, don’t forget to have a look later on to improve your game! Today, The Importance Of Lining Up! How many times do you hear, 'you need to line your feet up?!'...Technically, this isn't true (unless you’re planning to kick the ball!) Have a think about this: To check your lining up, there’s a simple routine which can be used as part of your pre-shot routine.
|
1 - Stand behind and find your target, draw an imaginary line back to the ball and pick something about a foot in front of your ball which is on your line. |
|
2 - Go to your normal set up, but place your clubhead behind the ball making sure your spot you’ve just chosen is in line with the clubhead. |
|
3 - Now think about placing your feet down in a parallel line to your clubface line towards the target. Just remember your feet, knees, hips & shoulders always run parallel to your clubface line. |

Experience The New Grip Sensation Have you ever replaced the grips on your clubs before? If you have, then you'll remember how much better it felt to hold onto brand new grips over the ball than old, tacky ones. If you haven't, it could be harming your scores and ability to swing with confidence. Right now, we have a fantastic promotion running in-store where you can get your 7-iron regripped for FREE! All you need to decide is whether you want a Golf Pride ALIGN grip or a CP2 Wrap. Decisions, decisions. |

Driver technology continues to be the hot topic of conversation in the golfing world, as brands search for ways of giving us more forgiveness, greater distance and better accuracy off the tee. So, which drivers are really pushing the boundaries this year? |
Introducing G410 Plus from PING The first thing you'll notice on the G410 Plus driver is its Moveable-Weight technology on the back perimeter of the club (seen above). This allows us to custom fit you into one of three positions - draw, neutral and fade - which will promote a left, neutral or right shot direction to cancel out your destructive miss. What does that mean? Well, quite simply, more fairways hit! Finding the right club for you can be a serious game-changer and sure-fire way of lowering your scores, and the best way of doing this is by taking advantage of our professional advice during an eye-opening custom fitting. |
