Greetings from Rob McNicholas
Saffron Walden Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Hello and welcome to this week's newsletter,

This week has seen the climax to the junior season with the David Hall final been played last weekend and the Owen Rout match play championship played over Wednesday and Thursday this week.

The David Hall Trophy

This is a unique competition played from March to October that allows juniors to play a medal round whenever they want and not just on specified days by the club. I believe that this has given our junior team the edge over the rest of the county as it allows them to play more competitive golf than their opponents, and get used to playing properly with a card in their hands.

The final was held this year with all of the monthly winners taking part and it was run alongside the handicap cup. Callum Brookes managed to defend both titles that he won last year with a 73 nett 68. In second place was Oliver Leyshon with a nett 69.

The Owen Rout Matchplay Final

The Owen Rout match play final was held on Wednesday and won by Christie Woosey over Charlie Duke by 1 hole. Christie got off to a flyer going 4 up through 6, but Charlie managed to make a good game of it and take him down the last.

Happy Halloween with the Lemons!

The Lemons held their annual Halloween party/ Autumn meeting. I was unable to make it this year but thanks for the invite Tony. I understand that they let their leader win the event with a very steady 36 points. Well done Tony Clarke, shows that all the effort on the range is worth it.

Over the next few weeks a lot of new products are being launched. We have already had the new Titleist 915 drivers, fairway woods and hybrids delivered into the Pro Shop, we also have the new Mizuno range and a demo day coming up next month, and TaylorMade have just announced that they are bringing out their new RSi irons.

For more info on these products, or to book a place on the Mizuno demo day please click here to get in touch, or enquire within the shop.

Here in the Pro Shop, we understand that we can't stock every product from every golfing brand around, however if you want an item that we don't stock, we offer you the Click & Collect solution.

This gives you access to my huge online catalogue where you can buy virtually any product in the golfing industry and all at hugely competitive prices.

How it works:

1 - Visit foremostgolf.com, or click here and add products to your shopping basket.

2 - At the checkout, select 'collect in store' and nominate your PGA Professional

3 - Collect your orders from the Pro Shop at your own leisure

You can then also take advantage of our professional opinions and great fitting service in store which is an added bonus over buying from online retailers!

Click here to visit my personal retail site, or click here to get in touch if you have any questions.

Club News
Two common faults I often see with a driver set up when teaching are; weight too left sided , and open shoulder alignment. These are both caused by the alteration with the ball position for the driver. As it's moved left in the stance for a right handed player, the weight tends to go with it, and the shoulders open at the same time.Read more...
