I suggested a handicap review on the tenth as Hugh was starting to find his game but Trevor, realising that we might be in with a chance of winning and having to buy drinks for thirty-odd people, refused my offer. I then eagled the tenth before Hugh picked up another three points on the thirteenth, I followed that with a birdie of my own on fourteen for Hugh then to get three more points on the fifteenth.

I was now starting to panic but thanks to a few interesting pin positions on the last three holes we managed to drop a couple of shots to come in with 41points.

Hugh's still got it!

Thankfully we were beaten by Wis and Wardy who managed a superb 45 points in cold conditions. Propping up the field it was Terry and Dan, the latter clearly learning from his previous two meetings where he’s bought everyone drinks. The Slade meetings are not ones to win!

Thanks to Hugh for dusting down his clubs and joining us on the course yesterday. For those of you who used to play with Hugh, you’ll be pleased to know that his ball-striking was as steady as ever and there was no sign of the famous Wizz shots I had heard so much about. That was until the last two holes when, as he put it, “his old friend returned”.

As you will see from some of the pictures and videos, Vic Power did a great job with the entertainment and its nice to get a video of James Latham I can actually use!

Thanks to Pricey for another great day and evening, thanks to Vic for the entertainment and if anyone wants to see a video of Ian Cambridge singing/shouting Wonderwall after a few drinks I’ll start the bidding at £20 for the Captains charity!

Junior 2020 Coaching Programme

This new structured programme has been very successful over the last few months. Juniors have seen great improvements and it’s brilliant having parents and family involved during the final week too!

Each day started with some group and one to one training, tips on chipping/putting/swing and clubs to use were all covered before heading out to play in some breath-taking scenery. The group were extremely sociable, lots of post-match analysis, chat and laughter over a glass or two pre-dinner with time to spare to head out to enjoy the other facilities if required.'
