Hello and welcome to this weeks newsletter. Firstly I hope you’re all well and have managed to stay safe over the past few weeks. As the sun's out this morning and we enter week four of lockdown I’m sure the novelty is well and truly wearing off for most. We have been trying to keep busy, various club committees have been or will be meeting on conference calls, which is a new experience, to ensure that when the lockdown is lifted the course will be ready for action and by the looks of what the green staff have been doing it will be superb. The one thing we’ve always said on committee is that the course would benefit from a rest as it gets so much footfall, we would have liked to have had more say and control over when it would happen but it's getting a break and will be all the better for it. I’ve made sure that my two have been helping out where they can. Last week while the sun was shining they took it in turns to come down and help me fill in divots on the first, second and short game area. At first, Johnny thought that being out on the course playing with mud sounded great but by the 18th bucket he finally admitted it was a bit boring. It's not until you actually start filling the divots, damage done by the birds and the past couple of dry summers that you realise how many holes there are and need filling but, one for Vic Power, now we know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall. |
