We hope you had an enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend. Firstly welcome to this weeks newsletter and if you are one of the twenty-six new members that have joined or rejoined the club since we have reopened then either welcome or welcome back to the club and newsletter. If you want any information or are looking for a game and to get to know people please feel free to give the Pro Shop a call and we can put you in touch with various groups and people within the club who will help get you going at SWGC. The recent upturn in weather has left us optimistic about what this summer might hold from a golfing perspective. Let's hope it's here to stay! That said I'm sure the greenstaff might be doing the odd rain dance in their yard as the course starts to firm up. I managed to play last week for the first time since mid-March and was amazed at how much the ball was running. I partnered Janina in a Thursday group and I'm happy to say that the rest must have done us some good as we returned a respectable 38 points missing the usual bucket-load of putts. After the four holes in one last week, it’s been a quieter affair this week with just one been registered. Patrick Lavelle holed his tee shot at the 7th. Congratulations to him, we are still waiting on one at the 5th since our return. As you will have heard this week there are plans for the country to return to retailing next month though it has now been put back into the middle of it. We will be taking custom fit bookings from June 1st and return the shop to a fully stocked with hardware by 15th June. If anyone needs anything before then we do have hardware now but aren't allowed to display it so we can sell through appointment basis or a kind of ring/click and collect. A lot of manufacturers are reopening warehouses and factories so stock is available for delivery too. Please ring the Pro Shop for more information, including on our procedures being carried out to new guidelines to ensure we keep stock clean and safe. As for the club and their steps forward keep an eye on your emails over the next few days. There is a meeting on Thursday night when things will be discussed and the next course of action will be put into place. I know things have been different since we've reopened but the first two weeks have flown by and in that time we have all got used to the new regulations and I'd like to thank you all for obeying the safety procedures that have been put in place. I think you will all agree what many of us knew that the golf course is as safe an environment as any at the minute and the extra procedures we have implemented have added to that. On that note from myself and the rest of the Pro Shop team have a great week on the course and enjoy the read. Rob. |
