I write this on a day that I should have been playing Royal St. Georges for the first time. but after Sarah got a late call into the next round of the Rose Series ladies events we rang up to confirm a practice round only to be told that they had changed it to ladies only so I wasn't allowed to play. I said I'd quite happily play off the red tees but I still wasn't allowed to go leaving Sarah and her mum to play on their own. 

She had a difficult start last week in only her second game since lockdown playing at The Buckinghamshire in windy and wet conditions. Hopefully this week with a bit of sea breeze and on a links will prove to be better for her. Worst case I'm sure she will enjoy the course and fish and chips afterwards.

You will have seen that the treasurer's newsletter went out this week detailing the staff consultations and redundancies. It's fair to say it's been a difficult time and difficult decisions have had to have been made by the club in an unprecedented year. You have to feel for the hospitality industry as a whole at the minute and we are no different at the club. I'm sure you'll all join me in passing on your regards and thanks to those leaving for their service over the years. In particular I have known Dave and Julie since I started in 2001 and have never known them not to be part of the golf club. It will be strange without you, but best of luck for the future, hopefully we will still see Dave down here playing, if not more so than before.
