Callum’s first pro event, report by Callum On Thursday myself and Danny Loveday (st Neots) played in the Thetford Alliance Pro-Am. The days consisted of heavy showers with breaks in between which made playing difficult. Making my professional debut, I managed to hit the green on the Par 3 1st. After a Shaky start bogeying the 2nd and 4th holes I managed to birdie the 6th. Despite continuing to Hit fairways and Greens I couldn’t quite get the putter warmed up and missed several Birdie Opportunities. Unfortunately a loose drive on the difficult 18th lead to a double-bogey 6 and a round of 75 (+3). However, this was good enough for a tied 2nd place in my first professional event and a solo 3rd in the team Pro-Am. On Saturday I caddied for Josh Izod in the Junior Sky Sports Qualifier for Spain at Stonebridge Golf Club. Josh being one of Saffron Walden's up and coming Juniors has had experience playing in big tournaments such as the English under 16 stroke-play. Josh drove the ball straight round the front 9 not missing a fairway. Carding 1 birdie and a single Dropped Shot on the par 3 4th saw him turn in level Par Gross. The wind got up on the back 9, a bad lie on the side of the green saw him double bogey the par 3 11th but he bounced back with birdies on holes 13 and 15 before dropping a Shot on 17. A drive into the right rough on 18 lead to a lost ball amongst the fallen leaves. This caused an unfortunate triple-bogey 7 on Josh’s last hole as he carded a 75. However, this was good enough for 2nd place on the day and a Place in the Grand Final in Spain |
