Happy Halloween people Seems to have crept up on us a bit this year, just like the clocks changing, it will be interesting to see what COVID social distancing trick or treating looks like. As you will see it’s been a busy week competition wise with six in eight days. On Tuesday I had the pleasure of partnering Janina in the Lady Captain Pro challenge. Our playing partners were next years and the year after captains Lynda and Claire. We had a good game, very close on the front 9 with lots of three pointers from everyone but we managed to pip them as I birdied the ninth and they both blobbed it. |

The back 9 got wetter, windier and tougher but Janina and I managed to scramble through it pretty well and if we could have mastered putting from inside 3 feet we would have amassed 4 or 5 more points. We got round in 37 points in foul conditions which I thought was a reasonable effort until we heard we had been beaten by Jo Kerchiss and Sonya Penney who had an incredible 41 points. Well done to them and everyone who entered and put up with the atrocious conditions. |
Competition results Ladies October Cup - Winner Jo Kerchiss with nett 70 Thursday combined Stableford - Winner Ben Gill with 42 points Saturday Stableford = Winner Colin McDonald with 40 points Combined 4BBB - Winners Paul Saunders and Ian McDougall with 44 points Seniors Stableford - Winner Dave Burt with 41 points Lady Captain Pro Challenge - Only ones to beat Janina and myself, Jo Kerchiss and Sonya Penney with 41 points |

It's not over yet! The golfing season would have pretty much finished by this point if it were a ‘normal year’. The men’s game would have named its four Major champions, the women’s game its five big winners, and another cracking Ryder Cup enjoyed. Sadly, this hasn’t been the case but the good – okay, great - news is that there are still two Majors left to play: an autumnal Masters Tournament from Augusta National and the U.S Women’s Open from Champions Golf Club. We'll find out who'll be wearing the Green Jacket in just a couple of weeks, and the world’s best are certainly finding their A-games in preparation. Patrick Cantlay won the weekend’s Zozo Championship by one shot from Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm; Rory McIlroy made a record-breaking 29 birdies over the same four days, albeit he mixed them with 8 bogeys and 3 doubles; Hatton and Fitzpatrick are performing well both sides of the Atlantic; DJ is fresh off the back of his FedEx Cup triumph and Bryson is testing longer driver shafts as his looks to dominate Augusta. We’d love to know who you think has the best chance of winning this year’s Masters. Also, are you excited to see how Augusta plays in November compared to its traditional April slot?
