Quiet At The Club As you can imagine this week has been quieter at the club with only a few of us here this week and just like lockdown last time the weather has taken a turn for the better too. This has meant good news for one section of the staff at the club as the greenkeepers have the course to themselves with a full team and no restrictions. Back in March half the guys were furloughed and combined with all their suppliers shutting down and only essential work being allowed they were somewhat restricted with what they could do. |
This time round they’ve been given the green light to crack on with a number of jobs which would normally disrupt the flow of play. As you can see from the photos the greens have been given some extra hollow tinning but a lot of work has gone into the bunkers. With the lack of raking, the dry spring and summer then the wet autumn some were in a sorry state. This has meant that lots will have the sand replaced and a number will have their drainage improved. |
There is also a plan to get more consistency with the sand and as a result, 4 more bunkers will have new bunker lies installed. This will help keep the levels of sand better, improve the drainage and have less contamination meaning more consistent sand. The guys have prepped them this week in anticipation of the lining been added next week. |
