Happy New Year First of all, I hope you enjoyed what you could of the Christmas holidays and welcomed the new year in even though we were very limited in what we were able to do. I was hoping to get this out before we went into another lockdown and at least have the chance to wish you all the best for 2021 but Boris beat me to it. Unfortunately, the numbers that are coming through on this new variant seemed to make a national lockdown inevitable and action had to be taken. Golf has had to take a back seat again despite it being one of the safest places to go for a walk and get some exercise but if a blanket message of stay at home helps the NHS cope with what they are currently having to deal with and saves lives then so be it. On the plus side I know that the golfing bodies in this country will be lobbying the government to ensure that we are one of the first sports to return when the restrictions are eased.
From The Club For the club things will still continue while you’re away, I know the chairman is sending out an email soon so I won’t give away too many spoilers but there will be news on course development that has been brought forward so it doesn’t disrupt play when we are back open, an Academy membership which will be launched shortly as well as a look into what’s happening this year. From the pro shop side, we will continue to work on our projects within the club, sit on the various committees we do and you will get an email from me soon explaining how we are operating a click and collect service. This will be more relevant next month as new product is launched as the manufacturers have confirmed they still intend to send the product out on their original launch dates. My immediate jobs this week are to secure the shop and get back into homeschooling, made trickier this time as my wife is actually at school teaching. |
