Getting Closer Hopefully, you would have had the chance to read and digest the clubs email this week with regards to when we reopen. Everything being equal we are going to try and make it as normal as possible when you return with the same COVID safety procedures in place as before and the same one way system on and off the course. The club diary may be slightly tweaked with some social events occurring when the final restrictions have ended but we hope to get back to competition golf in April. As far as the shop is concerned we are not allowed to open our doors solely for retail until mid-April but we are offering click and collect from now until then and once the PGA confirm how we can operate within our guise as an operational/ reception hub controlling tee times, I will let you know. We will be able to custom fit from 29th March and we are back coaching from this day too. Our diaries are open now and starting to fill up so if you would like a lesson please let us know. Also this year, after passing his first coaching exams, Callum will begin teaching. He will be working with Sarah on Saturday morning junior classes and has asked to specialise in coaching short game. This comes as no surprise as he’s mustard round the greens and I’m sure many of you have seen him practicing on the short game area and putting green for hours, so much so after one session he quite literally wore the grass a way working on short putts, much to Ian Cambridge’s delight. Over the next few weeks, he will be taking bookings for lessons, giving info on group putting lesson and green reading dates as well as discussing the technology he will be coaching with and how it can improve your game too. Lasts weeks quiz obviously proved too tricky for Charlie but we did have a few correct answers come through. First was Jim Ludden having his breakfast in a very cold New York closely followed by Nick Wombwell in his tractor. The answers were Luton, Doncaster, Leeds, Carlisle, Bolton, Stoke, Liverpool, Oldham, Dumbarton and Huddersfield. I’m afraid there isn’t one this week as we didn’t have a family quiz but hopefully, I’ll have more for next week. In the meantime enjoy the read and if you can watch the golf from Philip’s neck of the woods in the US this week. Philip will be at Bay Hill this week so keep an eye out for him, he also has Matthew Fitzpatrick staying at his house again for the week |
