Hello and welcome to this week's newsletter.
It's strange looking out onto the course to believe that we are into March with the lack of greenery and leaves on the trees, but this week has seen the first medals of the season.
On Sunday 32 players took part in the monthly medal which was won by Jimmy Hall with a nett 73. Best gross went to John Reeve with an 81.
Just to give you a heads up, next month will be the club Lombard Trophy qualifier where the winner will get to play with myself to represent the club at Old Ford Manor later in the season in the East Region Qualifier.
Following the men on Saturday with the ladies on Tuesday which was won by Morag Hutcheon with a nett 76. 29 ladies took part in blustery and cold conditions, hopefully next month will be a bit warmer!
This weekend sees the start of the junior competition season. On Sunday there will be an 18 hole roll up for players with a handicap of 28 or less, a 9 hole format for handicaps 29 to 54, a 9 hole girl competition and a 9 hole par 3 competition for beginners. If you have a son/daughter, grandson or granddaughter who is interested then please contact the Pro Shop for more details, or click here to get in touch.
This week I had my portrait taken with Simon Hawkins at Reeve Photography Ltd. and while Marcia looked on, I had a go at the Reeve 3 ball challenge which is open to all Saffron Walden GC Members. The challenge is to hit one of 3 balls over a 12" rail from just 10" away, and if one of the 3 balls goes over the rail you recieve a FREE portrait session (this is carried out with a 60 degree lob wedge, and balls are provided). However, fail and you supply a donation to the captain's charity 'Fledgelings', or you can caddie for 9 or 18 holes in our 120 holes in a day challenge on July 10th 2015.
Please talk to a member of staff in the pro shop for more information, or email simon at simon@reevephotography.co.uk, or visit www.reevephotography.co.uk.
